This project is a digital Christmas card. It involves the physical craft of stop motion, presented digitally in a Figma prototype. It is meant to be a more engaging and memorable way of sending someone a card. It can be personalized and sent to anyone as many times as you want, without consuming as much paper.
Created for Graphic Design Option Studio: Digital Imaging using Adobe Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Figma

A screen recording of someone opening the card

To make my digital card as realistic as possible, I decided to use real paper in my video animation. I created the snowman, snowflakes, and text in Adobe Illustrator, then laser cut them on cardstock. I moved and photographed each frame by hand. Then, I edited the video in Adobe Premiere Pro. Below are frames from my stop motion animation.
Cards that tell a story are the most memorable. My card tells the story of a snowman flying down a hill on a sled—something that encapsulates the holiday spirit and that everyone can enjoy.
I used Figma to design and prototype an envelope that could be opened to view the animation. To make the experience fun and interactive, there are several steps the viewer must take to be able to view the card: flipping it around, opening the envelope, and taking out the card. All of these steps are animated in Figma using components and smart animate.
