This project is a hypothetical rebrand of Iowa Safe Schools—an organization that aims to provide safe and supportive learning environments for LGBTQ youth in schools, support educators and administrators, and provide resources to parents and caregivers throughout Iowa. The primary goal of this project was to create a branding system that associated with feelings of safety, comfort, and self expression. The final product is a mini brand guidelines booklet.
Created for Graphic Design Studio V using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.

The wordmark is constructed using the fonts Filson Pro and Filson Soft, both to convey a sense of strength and confidence, and warmth and safety. The final wordmark is shown below, in four color options.
The pencil is used as the icon for Iowa Safe Schools, and it represents education and self-expression.
The branding system that I created can be used in other applications relevant to school, such as the notebook and stickers. The typography system that is used in the logo—using a heavier font in Filson Soft to emphasize words in a phrase—can be used in other applications, such as the “protect trans youth” t-shirt below.
Below are the pages from my brand guidelines book for Iowa Safe Schools.
The final deliverable was a poster showcasing the design identity I created for the nonprofit organization.
